I can't believe that is already March! The months go by so quickly sometimes. The weather is changing for the warmer which I love and has found Alice and I playing in the backyard for hours at a time. Kids love nature and who can blame them? Being cooped in a house isn't really all that fantastic. But outside? Yes indeed. God made so many entertaing things for toddlers like grass, dirt, flowers and bugs. You can draw ON THE GROUND with chalk! What what! Fun times for a 20 month old :)
The week I started my blog I also toured a church for thier Mothers Day Out program. As I mentioned in my first post I am home with my daughter about 3 weeks of each month sans husband. My love works six hours away in the oil fields and this makes for LONG weeks at times for Alice and me. It's a challenge to be on call all the time. So I wanted to find a program for her to give me some much needed time to myself and some wonderful learning and playing times for A.
Well the place I went to was highly recommended by a few friends and just so happened to be the place I went to preschool 27 years ago! Well the director was super friendly and didn't blink at my purple hair or tattoos (I have been to places where clearly this was an issue for them....faces say a lot folks) She gave us a tour and told us all about the program from 2 years to thier kindergarten program. I liked everything I saw and heard. Plus they have chapel once a week, music AND Spanish classes! Adorable. As we walked back toward the office she told me that that particular week was registration for families that were already enrolled. However since I attended there myself as a wee lass, I was considered former family and could register that day! The tuition and times were right and so we enrolled! I am looking forward to this new experience for Alice and myself. I mean she will have a little lunchbox and everything! And come Fall I'll have orginal artwork by my Alice displayed everywhere in the house! Adorable.
This month we also took a little weekend trip to Canyon Lake with some friends. It was a little "cabin" apartment on the lake. Alice ate her first s'mores! And loved it and had marshamllow all over her face and hands. Good times. I was worried about the over night because at times she has a rough time in a new place. To my surprise she hopped in bed with me, we read stories and she cuddle up and went right to sleep! Success.! The next day we took a little hike with my best friend and her son while her husband competed in a sailing race nearby. It was a lovely day and we are looking forward to more camping trips with them in the future!

Number One
So I thought I would start a blog about my daily life and being a Mama and all of the lovely and not so lovely things that go along with that. More of just a place to share thoughts and ideas and talk about myself. Sounds good? Fantastic. Hop on the Train...toot toot.
My name is Lizzie and I am a Mama to a beautiful 19 month old girl we named Alice. She is a joy and brings a lot of laughter to our life. I like to share all of her shenanigans every chance I get. I am married to a wonderful man, He is my real life country boy and he is the absolute best dude. We have an almost three year old Beagle named Gandalf, better known as Beegs. I REALLY love boots and apparently have passed that love on to my young daughter hence the title of my blog :)I was born and mostly raised in Texas. I grew up in Austin and reside there now. I've lived in a few different spots but this is home to me.
My husband is a diesel mechanic and works in the oil industry so he is gone about 3 weeks out of the month, which makes me a "part time single Mom". I find this very challenging at times because I am not alloted many "breaks" from my darling kiddo. So I find ways to keep us busy and entertained and learning new things. I have started making more time for myself but at times find that hard too.
I guess I am what has been described recently to me as a "crunchy" Mama, which I'm assuming is in reference to granola and tree hugging? I am a bit of an Earth Mama and like to find ways to save money, be semi-self sustaining and good to our Earth. So I'll take it. I'm into cloth diapers, making our own food, organic stuff, chickens, breastfeeding and all that kind of stuff so I suppose that makes me "crunchy" HA!
That's all for now because I am tired. I'm not really sure if this is the proper way to start my blogging but here it is...should be interesting..
